One of the few people in Reverein for whom Goro had a pre-existing relationship with- and the one who aided him the most, arguably, in easing his anxieties during a time when he couldn't even be certain if his concept of 'self' was something he could rely on, Sumire proved, in the end, to be a friend he'd never expected to find- and yet, one that helped restore his faith and trust in his own perceptions, and his ability to have a future. From the completion of the Faith Arcana, he received the Persona Freyja- whom he lost, once Reverein's influence faded, but was promised he could achieve again, with time.

For a non-insignificant amount of time, Ren Amamiya was his first- and only- friend. The one person who continued to reach out, in spite of everything- in spite of violence, in spite of hatred, in spite of betrayal. Ren, for whatever reason, never stopped believing that Goro could be better.
Perhaps it was fate that when Goro awoke in Reverein, Ren wasn't far away. The two ended up bonding, in spite of everything, with no limits now on what they could have been, and in the end, when a Dreamscape shattered the psyches of many of Reverein's residents, leaving them split in two- it was Ren who dragged Goro to face an entity quite like a Shadow- inheriting all of his attachments, his desire for freedom, his sense of self- and leaving him only with the all-consuming despair of a meaningless existence, doomed to end the instant he- or Ren- awoke.
It was Ren, in the end, who first helped him accept his Shadow, and awaken to the Wild Card and his first Fool Persona, Captain Nemo.
It was Ren, in the end, who dragged him- kicking and screaming, in some cases, into the chaotic friend circle that was the Phantom Thieves. When they vanished- he was devastated. But the seed had been planted, by then, and Goro was no linger willing, at least, to lock himself away from the world and simply vanish.
For his completion of the Magician Arcana, Goro was rewarded with the Persona Sherlock, who departed when he left Reverein- but promised to return, should he muster the strength to grasp that power once more.

Takuto Maruki occupied many of Goro's most potent nightmares, while he was in Reverein. The sense of being controlled, of how close he'd come to being the man's plastic-faced puppet, haunted him almost nightly. Goro had originally gone to his death, willingly, to be free of that control, but it was not to be.
Things came to a head when the Story Eater drew the subject of Goro's nightmares from his mind, creating a cognitive double of Maruki- who proceeded to bend others to his will, keeping them enthralled with pleasant visions of loved ones returned and apocalypses averted. For Goro... Ren had come back. Wished him a happy birthday, a few days early. Admitted an attraction to him, even, and invited him on more outings with the Phantoms. Goro eventually began to notice discrepancies, gaps in his memory- and the cognitive Ren seemed to have just enough self-awareness to apologize, before vanishing.
The conflict with Maruki drew to an explosive finish, as Maruki learned from Goro's own memories that they were both, in a sense, cognitive constructs- who could resolve to accept this, and strive to forge their own identities regardless. In that moment, Nightmare-Maruki evolved his Persona Azathoth into Zulchequon, the elder god that twists the dreams of mortals and grants their wishes. It seemed like a losing battle, but Goro found a resolve that he hadn't had, before- one to claim his rightful place as a true Phantom Thief and Trickster, to refuse to accept the hand that fate had dealt, and to steal his own future from the world, if needs be.
Empowered by Reverein's own defenses, granting the properties of figures of myth to its defenders- Goro awoke to Loki Laufeyson, overpowering Zulchequon's defenses and slaying Nightmare Maruki.
As the man lay dying, they had a brief time to speak, wherein Maruki apologized for the harm he'd caused, Goro acknowledged that he wasn't a monster, just a 'fucked up human like the rest of us who tried to do the right thing and failed'. They acknowledged that neither of them knew how much of their memories could even be said to be accurate- but it was enough that it was real, to them. Each wished that the other would, eventually, find happiness- and then Maruki died.
Died, Goro thought, not vanished. Because what Maruki had been, was a person with hopes, and aspirations, and problems.
Just like him.
For his completion of the Councillor Arcana, Goro received access to the Persona Zulchequon, should he ever gain the power to seize it.

A demon of the Ars Goetia that Goro first met in Reverein. In spite of Goro being a generally prickly bastard at the best of times, Stolas continued to reach out to him, offering a friendly ear in times when he was conflicted, or struggling.
In the end, Stolas, having heard Goro's anxieties, resolved to help him as best he could. The two researched potential means of escaping Reverein with memories intact- and, once the feat was managed, Stolas used a not-inconsiderable amount of magic to open a portal to the dream world- allowing Goro passage, and soon after, a home.
Goro was, in short order, legally adopted. To prevent any concerns with the family, Goro willingly abdicated any claim to titles he would have been afforded (seeing no particular desire for them anyway), as his status as the eldest son would have threatened Stolas's daughter, Octavia's, position to inherit. Soon after, with Stella's heart changed and the danger she posed to the family removed, Stolas was given time and space to focus on healing from the abuse he'd suffered at her hands, and building the relationship with his newfound, much larger, and far more chaotic family.
In the wake of the winter holidays, Goro even found it in him to embrace that affection in return, unabashedly. Blitz and Stolas were his parents, now, and he wouldn't have it any other way.

Goro Akechi's own personal Velvet Attendant, his intermediary between the bearer of the Fool Arcana- and the Master of the Velvet Room. While not initially pleased at all with the state of her assignment- she has grown, over time, to have a grudging respect for him, particularly in his perseverance despite adversity.
Something of a 'middle child' among the Velvet siblings, she has always lacked many of the qualities she feels made her siblings exceptional Attendants, and while she intends to work harder than any other to make up for these shortcomings, there is a caveat: she fears growing too attached to the world and its denizens, and too distant from her duties, for to do so would cause her, she is afraid, to follow in Elizabeth's footsteps, surrendering her status for the sake of a mortal heart and life.
Renée has struggled greatly with this dichotomy, feeling guilt for needing to hold to her duties as an Attendant, but also feeling compelled to aid and interfere in ways that would violate the terms of her contract to Goro. After several discussions with Alastor, over the course of months, she seems to have come to a conclusion- one that propelled her to offer him a boon, in exchange for granting Nautilus a second chance. While she claims it was only temporary, her previous statements suggested such a direct action would have far-reaching consequences for her, in the long run. Only time would tell what, exactly, they were.

Another stray picked up by Blitz and Stolas in Reverein, Denji's home life was... rough, to be blunt. In spite of their differences, Goro found himself bonding with Denji, based on their shared backgrounds, and when the time came- Denji chose to go with them, embracing the chance at starting over.
That was not the end, however. As much as Denji enjoyed his new home, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was betraying Makima, the woman who had used him, abused him, murdered his friends- but at the same time, manipulated him into being wholly dependent on her for years, delighting in the control she had over others. When he approached Goro to ask if his 'mind bullshit superpowers' could work to get her out of his head, Goro agreed without question, provided Denji follow them in- and face his own Shadow.
Denji did, indeed, have a Palace of his own, and in the course of his confrontation with his abuser- awoke to the Persona Cerberus, finally freeing himself from her control, and formally joining Nautilus. In many respects, Denji is a brother that Goro never had; a loud, irreverent dumbass who has, nevertheless, always remained steadfastly in Goro's corner.
In the wake of the winter holidays, Goro even found it in him to embrace that affection in return, unabashedly. Denji was his brother, now, and he wouldn't have it any other way.

The first time Goro entered the Metaverse in Hell, after finding that the Navigator had mysteriously returned with a new look, was the Palace of the one woman he was certain had a distortion:
Stella Noctis ars Goetia, his adoptive father's ex-wife, who'd attempted to murder him via a hitman- and failed, thankfully. However, unable to take this lying down and seeing her protected by her family, Goro reached out to Octavia, his adopted sister. Together, the pair of them were able to navigate Stella's Palace, and when it came time to issue a Calling Card- after some reflection, Goro suggested the name Nautilus, for Captain Nemo's famous submarine.
"We hunt beneath the surface. We take our crew where we can find it. And we never, ever, forget what they did."
Wary of falling into the same pitfalls the Phantoms had- and falling into more than a few himself- Goro led Nautilus through several major encounters and enough minor ones to garner a cult following in Hell's underground circles, doing exactly as he promised they would: taking crew wherever they could find it, in Goro's fellow adoptee Denji, a Hellhound he'd been dating at the time, who'd followed them by accident- and Kai, who'd signed on formally when an Overlord threatened his family. With the Bet against Alastor looming overhead, they entered Alastor's Palace in December- and emerged victorious, securing a victory that resulted in neither side losing.
It was within that Palace, when forced to entreat Papa Legba, one of the loa in Alastor's service, that the full extent of the situation between Heaven and Hell was fully revealed. Sinners were being ignored, only the purest cases being allowed into Heaven, with all the myriad petitioners who lived in the bulk of humanity, the rank and file, the countless millions who'd tried their best and failed, abandoned to Hell for lack of desire to hear their pleas.
Enraged- but not, for once, beyond reason- Goro realized that he could not stand by and allow people like that- who'd only ever needed the chance to do better- from suffering so. He vowed, in that moment, to do everything he could to better the situation in Hell. Collaborate with the Princess's Hotel, and if possible, fight to put an end to the Purges.
For his completion of the Justice Arcana, Igor personally apologized to Goro, for his own lack of action in his young life. Even though it was caused by Yaldabaoth, Igor chose to make amends by granting Goro a gift: the Persona Robert- the evolution of Robin Hood, stripped of the falsities and golden trappings.

While they had interacted in Reverein, with Loona encouraging Goro's self-expression in a number of ways- including one chaotic afternoon of throwing paint at his own wall just for the sake of 'fucking something up and claiming a space as his own'- after the move to Hell, Loona warmed quickly to the idea of additional siblings, especially seeing the joy it brought her father. She's been supportive of Goro the entire time, if not unwilling to point out his mistakes. Like Denji, it turned out they had a lot in common, though it seemed she still had some anxieties about the family getting bigger around her, remnants of the abandonment she'd suffered before.

Goro's biological father, which he was not pleased to learn he had a bond with. Shido was the source of everything wrong in his life, a man who manipulated him, enabled his worst aspects, and turned him into a killer, with Goro never realizing until it was too late how Shido planned to get rid of him the moment it was convenient to do so.
Their true faces ultimately revealed to one another, Goro completed the Hunger Arcana, though he did not know it at the time, and received access to the Persona Samael, should he ever reach out to grasp it.

The relationship between Goro and Blitzø began antagonistically, with the two trading insults and occasional acts of minor violence. It seemed the two were destined to rub each other exactly the wrong way, but then... not long after the New Year, so many people that Goro had grown close to abruptly vanished from Reverein, never to return. Among them were Ren and Sumire, both of whom had given him reason to look forward to the mornings- but many others, as well.
Goro did not... take it well.
It was Blitz who reached out first, coming to check on him when he hadn't stepped out of his home in weeks. Though Goro lashed out, Blitz stayed, cleaned the place up, made sure he ate something. Blitz made an effort to empathize with him- and empathize he did, on many fronts. The nastier insults seemed to stop after that, and in spite of everything Goro found that the imp was considerably warmer towards him than he'd ever been before. Blitz made an effort to let him know he was wanted, that he wasn't alone. It was Blitz that pushed so hard for adoption, Blitz that dragged him out of his trauma, even Blitz wh came to comfort him, when it looked as though Stolas, too, had vanished- and reminded him, in no uncertain terms, that he had family that cared about him.
